Working with bookbinders and makers across the UK we deliver stationery crafted with the utmost thought for people and the planet. We champion local production and the use of sustainable materials and processes. Our debut product, the A5/01 notebook, was released in September 2019. It was a passion project borne from an interest in the provenance and sustainability of paper goods within the creative industries.

A5/01 was made with the help of the Kent based bookbinding team, Noted in Style. Today, we are delighted to collaborate with several highly talented and passionate artists, binders, and makers, from all corners of the country. Our products are a representation of the design values we hold important. These include: Function (durable materials, flexibility, and practicality), Beauty and Form (timeless aesthetics, subtlety, craftmanship, emotion and identity), and Sustainability (recycled materials, low-carbon footprints, transparent and accountable production, and local manufacturing).

Port West was co-founded by Khalifa Abubakar and Shaun Ihejetoh. It is the result of their appreciation of well-made stationery and desire to support creative practice, sustainably. The partners met as architectural students in Scotland. They run Port West and their architectural practice, West Port, from their studio in London. The name Port West is a simple play on West Port, the location of their former university workshops as students in Edinburgh.
